I finally have a picture of the engine in the car with the shock towers removed. The oil filter is real tight to the new lower control arm mount so I'll probably remote mount the filter. Engine mounts tacked in place.

Can you put some pics up with the strut install and how easy was it?
Have enough room for any type of headers?
Or even a 351?

And could you let us know how the rack & pinion steering hooks up? I;ve heard that this could be a bit of a problem, seems the angles surpass the limits of the borgeson joints, any info appreciated

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted, had some medical issues. The pictures are with the struts installed. There is a lot of room for headers, and I imagine a 351 would be smaller than the 390 in the first picture. Since those shots were taken I have connected the steering. I did a little fabrication to make that setup better. I took a Mustang column and shortened it and mounted a bearing on the end to make it a complete column. Next I mounted the end of it into a 3" diameter tube so when installed the ujoint is actually almost all on the passenger side of the firewall. It exits down just as it clears the firewall, and this is enough to give very nice angles on the upper joint. The lower joint is not a problem and also works nice. The end result is the steering is smooth with no rough spots or binding since the angles are well within specs. I think if I used a stock column and had the joint on the end several inches away from the firewall, there would have been a problem but moving the joint up cures that.

I'll try to get a shot tomorrow. Basically the way I mounted it puts the bearing up the column a few inches, It makes the steering as if the firewall were further back.

I'm partway through the installation of the Fatman front end on my son's car, and this info on the steering confirms the direction we will be taking.
Fatman just sent me a little "cone" device to allow the bottom of the steering column to be held back further (inside the car), so that the u-joint will sit just where you describe it here.
This is a big relief to me, as I really didn't want to go to a double u-joint to turn that upper angle.
Would love to see pictures of your steering shaft installation when you get a chance.

I was going to e-mail you to see if Fatman had made contact, that "cone" is in a Street Rodder mag. i have, installed in a 32 ford ,rear steer rack, only way the guy could get a decent angle,at least what i imagine the idea is, the end of the steering colomn is almost sunk into the firewall Hope its a good solution. as much as i want the RRS set up, i think there is a $$ saving with the Fatman kit And, for RRS kinda money, i don;t like the idea of using original lower A arms either!

They may have done that after I suggested the steering joint be moved back a bit. I talked to them about it a while back and what I had done to solve the problem. I hope my pic shows what I did to get the proper angles.

I guess you can;t know what headers are going to work yet. So, you added a bearing for support at end of steering shaft The tube is just for support?? for colomn? does it go right inside & tacked to firewall? Nice work, man

Correct - the tube is for support of the column. The steering shaft bearing is where the shaft exits the column up inside the larger support tube that is welded to the original plate that bolts to the firewall. I have a lot of room for headers, but because this is a 390 install, I'll be using the cast manifolds for quite a while. The first picture in the thread actually has the manifolds on the engine.

Forgot to add, Brett at Fatman, tells me, they are going to include a tube or cone, for end of colomn, that comes with the kits for Falcons, in the Fairlane kit now

Pay special attention to the plumbing when you remote mount that oil filter. There is a long thread on that on clubcobra.com where he had it wrong and would puke engines on the dyno.
