My favorite car shows happen where a bunch of people meet to form up for a cruise. This is art on the move, a rolling sculpture that requires far more than static display to enjoy or even understand. Two cars pulled off in a parking lot comparing notes makes more sense than another Good Guys show.

Good Guys is so huge it's ridiculous. I attended my first one last July and will never be back. And what do you get for the outrageous entry fee??? Nothing but a plastic bag with ONE Good Guys catalog to buy more of THEIR merchandise. For such a big buck show they had the worst band I've ever seen, and had them play 6 times in two days! Also on Saturday night, once it hit 5pm the show cleared out and died. What's up with that? I've been to some great shows where we're cruising and mingling til 1am.
In my opinion it's one big opportunity to kiss Boyd Coddington's butt for three days. No thank you.

I agree with you on the cruise-in's. Although I will admit there are some "mega-huge" shows that I annually attend, and have for many years. But nothing beats your local 50's diner havin' a cruise on a warm summer night, local friends & folks, with some greasey food and maybe a great dj. And if we're talking about my fav hang-out, Wink's, we have a band every Fri. and Sat. night.

hey....this is chris from the other "guest posts" i've just been to lazy till now to remember my rediculous password... but i agree on the cruisins too...its not really a big competition and people will actually try to understand what a Meteor is at these hehe... and for music... if anyone plans on doing a car show anytime soon, I have a band that plays anywhere we can. We're called Concept and are all instrumental rock/metal and i'll have to say we dont suck i hope to see you guys at some shows if my car will make it before the engine swap happens

Hey Chris, Are you familiar with the band the Belairs outta Fort Wayne? No one seems to know what happened to the bass player. I miss the one I nicknamed "Smiley". Ya know, too many teeth for his mouth. Anyways, the new one is killing that band.

They're rockabilly, four guys. And this would happen to be a stand up bass. Something very appealing about that big ole instrument. Holy smokes.

Dang and stuff. Is the new bassist stand-up too? You gotta be good to pull that off. I tried stand-up and besides the fact that it's durn heavy, it's.........hard to play! I'll stick with my Warwick Corvette standard 5.
Speaking of favorite car shows (oh yeah, the topic), mine is coming up in April, Fabulous Fords Forever in Anaheim, CA. Tons of fords. I go put my Bronco in it's spot and avoid the Bronco mob and head straight for the Mercs. Of course the Mercs are all together 100 yards away from the Fairlanes on the other side. Personally, I'd like to see one family, so those cool Fords and Mercs can hang together. Specially since our Meteors and the Fairlanes share so many pieces and good charm of course.

We've got an all Ford up this way too, in April, Columbus Ohio. I'm just hoping the weather is decent and I don't get parked by the dumpster.
