Got a pamphlet from Auto Krafters today and saw an interesting rack and pinion kit in it. Tracked down the manufacturer and they also make a dandy strut kit too. www.rrs-online.com/html/about_us.htmSpendy but very nice looking parts, well thought out. You can order an info kit in pdf format for pricing. It appears to be about the same price direct from Oz with shipping as from Auto Krafters.

Well, yeah. It's just a matter of picking through the boneyard and fine a mid to late eighties mid sized GM and yard the rack out of it. That site has pictures with enough detail to fab from.
Not that moi would ever do that........

You mean you wouldn't let a company spend thousands developing the steering system only to use their generous pictures to steal their idea's and build it much cheaper yourself?..... ...I really like the strut system, but I'm scared to know what its worth....The drag system takes 70lbs off the front end too.

The strut front is even more spendy than the rack. They start out at $2650. That would be about half a gazillion Canadian. I simply must go shopping at the boneyard of ideas.

I have looked at that rrs, system. It may be fine, but I am leaning more to the Tubular front end set up.
Since we have a lot of curves around here, ARIE knows!! I still have not decided on the rearend. 9" for sure, but dont know how well a four link would work. gotta have a sway bars too.
reinforced torque boxes, sub connector.
There seems to be a lot of room inside where the rear tires set on the axle.
Does anyone think the rearend can be narrowed 4"?
Or would one be better off ordering a wheel with more offset?
I saw a car last week that has me thinking. 347 Ford stroker, with twin turbos, running thru a homemade inter-cooler, the feed 2 650 Holleys.
The guy is suppose to send me his part list all fabed except the 2-4 manifold.
His dyno slip showed 850hp@ 7800rpm.
He claimed his big cost of the short block. He was also running castiron heads. his claim was the turbos and alumium heads cause bad detonation.
Any ideas on that?

i thought aluminum loses heat faster than cast so you lose a little HP that way, thats the reason for coating the chambers,so detonation should be more likely with iron. no?

Gotta agree with that, not the heads, more like lacking some serious timing control at WOT. I keep thinking about a triangulated four link much like the late model Mustangs where the anti-sway bar is bolted to the lower links. My traction bars could eventually be the lower links by welding them to the axle housing. www.carbdford.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=267

thats how i'm doin my Capri all the hard parts dun(the top boxes) but they really are'nt boxes cause i tubed them and and made tabs to connect the upper arms. the easy part was fabbin the arms. and the slapper type traction bars Ford has are not too bad but they are way too heavy. if i had more room(like in the 62) i'd rather go with a three link w/panhard lot better setup.you can change roll center a lot easier, from road racin to strip setups. and it looks a lot easier to fab
