HEy, here's a place to talk about the pics I've been posting so as we keep the text out of the Meteor Pics Only area. So...Engine is in......the Crites mounts are a pain in the ass for the following reasons: -Hipo manifold hits the top of the metal mount on the drivers side -Once the motor is in, you can't get anything but a ratchetting wrench on the nuts for the mounts to tighten them. Also, gott have bitchin hands to get the nuts even started....I am lucky to have bitchin hands because Craftsman doesn't make them. - Rubber mount that Crites uses also interferes with Hipo manifold on pass side. So you have to cut down Crites metal mount, and also cut down Ford designed rubber mount. Ugh..they are in and are sturdy...I'll shut up now.

Well then....... I guess it's too late to give you the part numbers for the later model Ford mounts and plans for some very simple fabrication that allow lowering the engine and a single bolt on each side, no manifold interferance, and access to all the pan bolts.... See how ya are. ;D

Yeah, I know. I just dont have a welder, etc. Plus, I can get my whole pan out, motor is lower, trans is comfy, and all is sailing well right now. Belated thanks.

Geesh, my 5.0 just dropped in like it was mean't to be there..... ;D...The old 289 mounts were mint and free of oil/grease. Did ya do any HIPO mod's to that 5.0 for chevy spanking fun?

Yeah, as referenced in other places on this site, not everyones meteor had 7" spaced mounts that were oil and grease free. Can't wait til you fuggers break a mount, but I guess ya don't have enough power yet!? I am of course just kidding. But you will break your stinkin mounts. hahaha It has a cam, very mild. Otherwise stock. I have a 240rwhp Volvo with 5.0 and a 330hp Bronco, and a sport bike to spank people with. Plus it ain't a fair race, if the other guy isn't running whitewalls like I will.

Not sure if that is a valid challenge.........how wide do the whitewalls have to be?

Yeah, it's not a challenge, it's not built for any type of racing or beating anything. The only thing I know it will beat is riding around in a toyota. I actually set out to build it for high mpg. I figure with a stock EFI and no smog equipment and overdrive trans, it may get 18mpg or greater on the highway.

Yeah, I would expect MPG to be somewhere in the 20's. I am getting 18MPG easily w/o fuel injection or OD.

What rear gears you two run? I know you got 4.11s recently W2?

3.25 gears here, which still feels pretty deep with a 25.5" tire.

The 3.50 gears should live with the mpg really well. Most of the Mustangs had 2.80 and 3.07 gears and got mid to high twenties in OD. When I had the 3.25 gears and a 25.6" tire I could get 27+ mpg @ 80 mph, with a 600 Edelbrock and a performer 289 manifold in OD. With the carb you need deeper gearing to avoid fouling the plugs at rpms that the EFI works great at.
Yes, I have 4.11's and a locker in there with the same tires. Just have to put it all back together and gather some data.

w2, that sounds great....can't wait to try it out. I'm just a few pieces away, but am right now taking a 3 day break up here in Seattle. When I get home it's go time on the Merc to finish up!
