i did underline the word "think". with the mounts out of the way and trim some more offa them shock towers, i was just thinkin that there would be a lot more options open to you since there are a boatload of different chevy headers out there. do you have power steering? i know that all that stuff gits in the way as much as everything else in there.
if yur Meteor was a 2 door= then what?

Awww, c'mon ca, you didn't look at the pictures and see the power steering ram? Joey, you already have cut the back half of the shock tower away, just keep cutting them back until you get about a half inch from the inboard side of the spring and then replace the gaping hole with some 14ga flat sheet. That would allow some much better flow with some short radius ells. One of the guys on FCA has recently built an adjustable coilover strut with rear steer with late model Mustang struts so he got discs too. Could use the same program to have yours front steer with r&p so you could have the rear sump too. Too bad you ain't near here or I would proceed to cut and fab.

Oh how I wish I could run a rear sump oil pan. We had to put a trap door in the pan I have now with a hinge on it. THe pick up is almost touching the very back of the front sump. The trap door is almost right in the middle. It almost the hieght of the sump it's self. When I launch it helps hold the oil up front and the oil feeds it's self thru some holes that are in the trap door to the pick up. When I let off the hinge closes and keeps the oil in the back. So far it has been working good for me. Good oil pressure all the way down the track and also when I let off it remains and slowly drops as I come to a stop. 60PSI when I'm flying down the track.
I don't know anyone around here who knows how to make custom headers or cut and weld on the car to create more room. I know someone who builds drag race engines. He doesn't mess with making headers or cuting and welding on cars.
Shops charge to much. I can't afford them.

i plan on doin the front steer rack one of these days- like i git the xtra money. should make a lot more room back there and it doesn't look that difficult. so far it looks like i can swap spindles side to side so i can get the steering arms in the right place.there's room in the front for the rack and a couple mounts. i really need an old set of LCA's to finish figgerin, so we'll see. need to find an old rack offa Fox Mustang, i think about 60 bucks at the wreckers. right now i'm in the middle of puttin together the 302 that i have so the RnP have ta wait.

oh no. i'ma not gittin rid of the 221! i would like to find another 221 to build a little. the problem is findin good pistons for the small bore and so far all i've come up with are Porsche/Mahle pistons that may fit. they have a pretty good sized dome but maybe with Cleveland heads it would work out. the 302 is for another project. i told ya before that yur Mustang would be a good parts car ;D
