Hey all, I came across this car while on business in the San Francisco area. I was driving by this small car lot and caught just a peek of the front end. I have been looking for an early 60s Ford product ever since selling my 1962 Lincoln Continental earlier in the year. This car had so much going for it I couldn't pass it up. That and I'm a sucker for an "unloved" model. 1962 2 dr. 59,700 miles. 221, Merc-o-matic, PS, PB, radio. Black plate car. It came with the original owner's manual, and even the heater control instruction tag. It was bought at Foust Motors in Ventura, Ca. on Nov 6, 1962. It has the original keys with the little DAV keychain that had the license plate # on it. There were a bunch of spares in the trunk. I'll be posting more pics of the goodies I found. Front seat is frayed and the carpet is drying out, but the rear seat, headliner and door panels are perfect. All is not perfect however. The previous owner for some reason replaced the 221 with a 64 289. It's in the car, but the flex plate doesn't match the converter bolt pattern. I'll pose that question in the tech forum. I'm no stranger to older cars. I have a 1966 Olds 88 conv. and I am restoring a 1959 Plymouth Sport Suburban station wagon, but I'm still looking forward to learning all I can. Dave

IT'S ALIVE!
Sorry for no updates, I've been traveling virtually every week the last month for work. I had been trying to find the correct flexplate or tq for it until I went to the Pomona swap meet back in July. I found a complete FordOMatic from a 64 Fairlane with all I needed to put it in my car. I've been working on the car weekends ever since. The trans went in after I swapped the tailshaft housing from the 62 trans that came with the car. I guess somewhere between '62 and '64 they changed the rear mount. I also had to replace the gas tank because it rusted out from the top! It spent most of it's life in Ventura, Ca. so it's not that surprising. I decided to replace the sending unit too. So after making sure everything was bolted, clamped, and screwed together I fired it up. Now I had NO idea how the engine would run. I was told the 289 in it was rebuilt, but I was very happy to see the engine idle smoothly, and stop turning immediately when shut off. I drove it on the streets around my house never really getting above 25, but the trans shifts great both up and down. It sounds really strong too. Of course I have to leave tomorrow morning for work for the week, so I hope to take it for an extended drive next weekend.
Stay tuned!
Dave
