Hey everyone I'm back on the road. It's been a real good experience learning about rear-ends and how they go together. I think the Dana 60 is a great addition to my car. We built a stout rear-end that's for sure. I have to thank a good friend of mine for building it for me. Thank you qwkmopardan. Car runs nice and smooth no howling or whining. You can feel the locker engage and disengage when your off and on the throttle. I also heard the ratchet going around a turn but barely. It turned out great. We narrowed a Dana 60 to fit the car. Inside the housing are a bunch of goodies. We went with Detroit Locker 35 Spline Strange Axles Richmond 4.10 ring and pinion 5/8 axles studs 10 x 2-1/2 drum brakes Stainless Steel cover Enland Empire Alum Driveshaft 3.5 diameter 1350 series U-Joints The housing was sandblasted put in a epoxy primer then painted black. Well let's get to the good stuff. Pictures Even drove it to work this morning. Here is a pic at work

looks great! Nothing like something that works right, first try! My rear is starting to make some growling noise. I can fix it, or a friend has an 8.8 ls from an Exploder.

Car looks great!
I see you opted for the "shiny hiney" ... ;D

The shiny hiney was his deciding factor I think. =)
Cool, with those axles and the Dana, you are finally ready for the shock tower mods and a BBC.
Oh, you really need to lose those rear spring/shock plates. Get some that put the U-bolts right next to the leaf spring. You are about to start putting a lot more stress on them and they will bend and slip. Suddenly developing "rear steer" at the strip is bad.

Yeah those lugs nuts are huge. I had to get a truck 4way bar that had 15/16 lug nut size on it. The 4 Way is huge. That was the only thing that will fit those lug nuts.
I like my shiny hiney

I think it will run very similar. The D60 is defiantly more heavier than the 8"
But Now I have more wieght over them rear tires.
I had line lock put on the car too. It was easy. We put a toggle switch near the shifter. It blends right in.

Late Fords with the 8.8" rear are 4.10 too. Still need to look at those shock plates on the leaf springs.

what's wrong with the shock plates? Do you have a link to better ones?

I built some to replace the stockers. You need some that tuck the u-bolts in close to the leaf springs. I bought some junker Toyota pickup ones and welded the shock eyes from my old ones onto them.
