Just to let the folks know here is a lost cost, plus size, wheel/tire option for you Meteor.
16"x 7"steel wheels from a late model Crown Vic fit on the old bucket with a 3/16 spacer for clearance. Lets you run a 225/60/16 with no problems. Can go to a lower profile if you want to maintain correct rolling circumference. These work great and look great when you add a chrome trim ring. Set up the whole car with Bridgstones, wheels, spacers, new chrome lug nuts for under $600 delivered. Got the wheels off eBay. Tires from Tire Rack (with $50 rebate).
Got the idea from the NYC cabs running around. Bulletproof.
Now to weld in those floor pans...
