Hello to everyone. Years ago I owned a 1962 Meteor and drove it everyday. Found it on Craigslist and bought it back a few weeks ago. It has past through three different owners since me and no one drove it or even transferred the title out of my name (after five years!). It has a 302 c4 auto with electronic ignition and electric fan. After a lot of tinkering and mouse village removal, everything is working again but I am stumped by a serious bogging on quick acceleration. 83 motorcraft two barrel with a new accelerator pump diaphram. Any advice there is appreciated. Anyway, you guys have a great board here and a lot of awesome cars. Hope to contribute in the future. Chief

nice car!!! you have enough initial timing? not enough will cause a bog. don't know if your carb does but some have that lil orange plug in the bowl from the accelerator pump and sometimes they don't seal right and allow part of your shot to pump back into the bowl.

Fixed the bog! Water in the gas tank! Pumped it out, poured in new gas and it works great. I've been buffing on the faded paintjob and it's really starting to shine. Your advice is much appreciated, CA! Have a nice day. Chief

firechief62, If the water gives you more problems (if you weren't able to get all of it out), you might want to add some HEET (available at parts houses, WalMart, etc.) additive in each of a couple of tanks of fresh gas. I had gotten some bad gas, and HEET resolved the problem. A friend used it in a tank that had water, and resolved his problem. Easier that draining tank.

Well, I have to admit that I er uh wasn't the one to find the problem. I have a buddy that owns a garage and he diagnosed it. We pumped the tank out as good as we could thru the filler and put fresh gas in and that was our solution. I will put heet in though, that is a good idea, thanks! It was strange in that the car ran great unless you really punched it under throttle. Thanks for the advice guys!

Is my car the only one with drain plug on the front of the tank?

nope! i think the reason that the car makers quit puttin them in tanks is cause of me n my buddy Ron back in the 60s= much easier than a hose
