Even though its performance gains are small, cold air is powerful air. My 62 currently has a 210 hp 302 and a motorsport alum. open element aircleaner. I have an 85 HO dual snorkel air cleaner that I want to plumb to suck outside the engine bay. Not sure how or where, but I am gonna make it happen. Problem #1 is getting it to fit the carb between the 2 strut tower to firewall supports. Need about 1/2" of space.

How good are you with a hammer and dolly? Or, mark out a very even cutout in the strut area and flip the piece so it is inside out. Migweld it with tiny stitches to control the heat and finish the welding off smooth then paint.
I have been thinking about fresh air too and the space on either sidd of the radiator looks good to me. I was thinking of building a containment around the 14" element with a foam gasket on top to contact some tin hung from the hood X support structure and ducted under the hood over to the radiator support and have elbows from the penetration in the radiator support going up to meet the ductwork in the hood in the closed position. It could be aluminum painted black. That way when the hood is up the engine isn't obscured by the ductwork.
Just some (experi)mental ramblings....

I made a ram air setup for my 63 meteor out of 4 inch aluminum duct and 2 sheet metal scoops that i mounted under the front bumper. i made the air cleaner piece out of an old snorkle air cleaner with 2 holes cut in it. it makes quite a difference above 60mph, and came out looking decent too. next time youre driving 65mph, roll the window down and stick your hand out. to you it feels like cold 65mph wind, to me it feels like free horsepower. email me for pics, peacesells63@aol.com
