Joe Sherman is awesome at building high powered and efficient street motors. The only downside is that he is making 500HP with the same kind of build-ups with SBCs.

I'm really diggin those CHP crate motors. A 331 blown stroker putting out 520 hp. Sounds right up my alley! www.coasthigh.com/Assemblies/Ford/ford_331.htmI like the 347s but they do drink a bit more oil and don't seem to have the street life that the 331 does.

Nothing wrong with the SBF and Joe Sherman proved it. They do have some advantages. Its too bad that ford ditched the OHV pushrod design to build the cammers. All the R&D money that GM poured into the LS V8 motors is finally making its way down to us street machine guys.

but when the cammers start getting more plentiful its gonna be THE engine ta have cause you can make sooooo much more power from them.pushrods are too old school and they (bein the american manufacturers) should have givin us this technology in the sixties cause they knew it was comin

I agree that the DOHC V8s are the future, but they do create some challenges (im not sure how that wide profile would fit in a meteor). I think the new 3 valve modular V8s are good, the old ones were never to impressive IMO. I don't think Ford did either since they had to throw blowers on them to make anything over 300HP.

i'll take the production small block ford boss 302 n kill any production small block turd gm ever crapped out n probly the big blocks too. ever since i was a little one n found out how REAL engines(like the Ford indy 255) were made i couldnt find a reason fur arguin which boat anchor was faster. on the street scene gm's been playin catchup ta Ford for the last twenty years-since the Mustang LX's. ANYBODY into high performance cars should thank Mr. Kranefuss and the SBF for gettin the whole performance thing restarted.hemi's n pentroofs n n ohc's have been around for more than fifty years i want new technology like pneumatic/hydrogen or electro/hydraulic valve actuation n beryllium pistons ;D
