I just installed an underdrive crank pulley on my 302. I was talking to a gearhead at work and he said the crank pulley is the only one that makes a difference in slowing the accessories for less drag. The waterpump and alt pulley are the same size, and buying a 3 piece "kit" is more for looks than all 3 being for HP. Pulley claims 10-15 HP!!!!!!!! I got that putting an Autolite sticker on the back window!!!!!!!

I put the March underdrive crank pulley on first and noticed no issues with water temp or charging. I then found there are lots of size options available for the water pump and the alternator. There are at least 5 different sizes of wp pulley avail that all line up correctly. Check out small block trucks, early '70s cars and vehichles with air conditioning (they spin the pump slower on purpose). My wp pulley is so large it almost touched the original crank pulley. I run the alt pulley from a larger amp unit. When I was satisfied that I still had no perceptable change in temp or charging, I got those 2 chromed. Total cost was much less than a 3 pc kit and I got exactly what I wanted.
