More like 50k to 250k per year. Yeah, like I ever.... I'm much closer to the bottom dregs of MC since I retired than I ever was while working. The majority of Americans make 30k or less.
Fortunately, I am extremely tight with $$.. If it costs a nickel to sh!+, I'll puke!

I think they chose the 200/250 number because that supposedly covers about 95% of households. Median was $52,029 in 2008 according to latest census. quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html I'm guessing that will go down quite a bit for 2009/ 2010 with all the folks that have been laid off or had salaries reduced. I got my latest SS statement the other day and between being laid off for 4 months and then getting a job at 80% of my previous salary it put my 2009 income level back about 10 years. Since I've been working for all of 2010 I'm guessing it will be at a level I was making 5 years ago. I know I'm lucky to be working but this still sucks. According to this article, if the new tax deal passes people that make less than 20K and families that make less than 40K will be the only people that actually see their taxes go up! Not much but that's still forked up. www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/07/tax-cut-compromise-whose-taxes-rise_n_793572.html

Most of the families around here make 17-18,000

We should all move to Gr. Prairie Alberta. Tim hortons - on their sign out front - Sign up for 1 yr, & you get $3,000 signing bonus on the spot & $15/hr. for asking, "do you want a donut with that coffee"? oh, plus benefits. Macdonalds - Signing bonus - $2500 on the spot -$14/hr + benefits. I know $14-15.hr isn;t gonna make you rich, but, minumum wage here is like, $9.00/hr We did a 9 day show there, highest daily bar sales over any of our 2010 events. Oil, boys & girls, oil!
