Yeppers, fits- 221,260,289 & 302 I just slipped my old 221 or 260 oil pan, can;t recall which, but both the same on a 302 block & it seems to fit just fine, but, the 221 is a front sump,eh, so you'd need the right pick up,extension tube, dipstick in timing cover.

I think theres a few different kind of oli pan's in 302 motor's. I have seen different length of front sump, different location of drainhole ( in end and in side) and in truckversions theres oilpan that have rear and front sump (with two drainholes) .also i have two that same length of front sump , but other is deeper than other. All of these are geniune Fomoco products, not raceingequipment or so. But if i got question right i have also put oilpan from 260 to 302 with no problems , only important thing to measure is the length of oilstick ...

Yes there are rear sump and double sump but your application is for a front sump. The original drain hole for the early Fairlanes is on the left side. Later engines using the front sump pan have the drain in the back of the sump. The dual sump pans have a plug in each. Regarding the oil dip stick, put in four quarts of oil and start the engine. Let the oil drain down. Mark the stick for the "add oil" at that time. Then add another quart and mark the "full" line.
