I know I am off topic - BUT - I recently bought a true show car in top condition. It is a 52 Merc. Monterey 2 door hard top needing nothing. If I could figure how to post pictures I would. anyway, I am hoping for some info to identify the flathead V8. Seller (a dealer) said is is a 255 c.i. "B" block. (what ever that is) It has polished Offenhauser heads, (24 bolt) 2 Stronberg carbs, Fenton headers. Distributer (electronic) is in front by the alternator & A/C compressor (no typo)The bell housing is removable & just in front of Bell H (on passenger side of block) is "K1724".
It is highly unlikely I will remove the perfect running engine, but sure would like information on it. It may possibly be the original 52 Merc. engine - who knows. I toy with the idea of replacing it with a built 302 or perhaps a 351W & 4 or 5 speed (it has 3 speed over drive).
My poor old 63 S33 & 65 Comet 404 wagon has been neglected since I bought the 52. Any help would be appreciated here or directly to doberdawg@comcast.net

A 255 would be correct for a 52. Originally they were 110hp. Yours sounds like maybe a few more?? Do you use any of the photo hosting sites, like Flickr or Photobucket? If you can upload photos onto one of them, I could help you get them on here.

If you go to vanpeltsales.com site they have pages of specs & differences for all years of Flatties. Great info there!

2 answers in one. Yes to vanpeltsales.com. They don't seem to answer their phones, & I am not the type to leave my number so they can stop me from being productive at their convenience.
I will have to look for photobucket &/or flikr, not familiar with either - I suspect they store photos on lien? I will try their names.com & see if that is a correct URL. I don't know about re-sizing when file size is too big, hopefully the sites may. thanxxxxxxx to both of you - I would love to share my 52 Merc & a 64 Ranchero show cars.

WOW, photobucket is the most contankerous site I have ever seen, only about 2 hours to create 4 albums (1 called redundancy because I could not delete the multiple shots from my others. But I could & did drag the pics I did not want from an album into "redundancy" - phew. Then the final album for my show car 64 Ranchero, I noticed EVERY photo was having front & rear cropped, so I dragged all 4 (had a bunch more, but whky bother) into redundancy. So---oooI do have an excellent album of my 52 Merc show car, & a 56 ford album.
Next, I thought NOTHING could be as hard to use (no instructions, no "contact us" no "delete" photobucket, so let's try flikr - - First step "sign up", did not get past that. Thought I would ask you, Rob, which site is more user friendly?
I thought I would upload a couple at a time of the Merc, then the Ranchero but as now gave up on photobucket & the cropped pics of the Ranchero.

I've only used pbucket, and it is maybe once a year I go back to it for something. I agree about the complexity of it. A friend of mine sends me photos from an album on snapfish... Maybe worth a look???
