I have a 63 Meteor, and a 65 V8 Comet wagon. The Comet has a tired engine & I am looking at a wrecked 91 Cougar with an AOD & High Output 5.0 litre engine. Of course it has a lot of other "goodies" too. Does anybody have experience swapping this engine with an old 289? If i can/do should I keep the Fuel Injection (if I can separate it from the Cougar computer? ) or will my intake manifold/carb work? And instead of the popular Granada disc brake conversion will the Cougar disc brakes work? It may have 4 wheel discs with anti lock which would be nice, but may ( ) require shortening or a lot of machine work? Finally, I am told that to put an AOD in a flacon/comet requires cutting the transmission hump as the AOD is bigger?? Does anybody know for sure, & perhaps how much cutting? Although I have in mind the 65 Comet wagon as the recipient, I may consider the S33 if an easier conversion. Long shot, but does anybody have pics of the cut hump in a Falcon/Comet to facilitate the AOD? Thanxxxxxxxx

I don't know about the Comet application but I put a carbureted (formerly EFI)5.0 in my Fairlane with the AOD as well. I didnt' need to modify the hump but you might. Try www.fordmuscleforums.com/ site, they have specific Falcon & Comet forums as well as anything else Ford. A much bigger pond so you can find a lot of combinations there.
