Hey guys....still cleaning up my engine bay with engine removed. fixed holes under battery box, cleaning up firewall and replacing grommets and sanding.
Just took out the steering box this weekend(rusted to frame and water poured out of it after disconnecting from ragjoint) and want to send it for a rebuild by Lares Corp like i did with my power cylinder.
question: is this box the EXACT same as 62' Fairlane box? ( i have a 62' meteor S-33) if so, Lares has some ready to go and can ship. BUT if its the 1 inch sector shaft(which i dont think i can measure without opening box) then Lares says i need a different box service.
anyone have any insight into this?
as always, many thanks to all you smart guys that have done this before.

Good question, I;m guessing yes, the same, but, I;m guessing. If no one knows for sure, I can ask over at the Fairlane Club website, the early Fairlane guru, Bob Mannel would know for sure.

If it is different, I have a 62 Meteor (& 63 meteor & 63 Fairlane) 4 door parts car. California no rust. The 62 is drivable (no fenders or interior though & has 40K original miles on it. I am guessing from your post that you are not close enough to do the labor, though. Just for those "crazyformercurys" folks HELP, I need a passenger hood hinge for my 53 Merc Monterey:((

Same box up to 65 for sure as long as it is a rag joint box. Only diff between that and manual steer was the length of the pittman arm and idler arms. (longer)
