I have a 63 with a 2 speed wiper motor & 2 speed switch. I have traced & tested one end to the other - motor & switch - to the best of my abilities. I can't swear that eilther is good or bad. I replaced a little rectangular 2 post ??relay?? My wipers don't work, & I have no clue why. As I also have a 63 Ranchero not working I would like to know what & where to look for??? Lay language appreciated. I do have Ford Shop Manual & it offered no help, Any suggestions??? thanxxxx

Did the wipers work before or is this a new install? You;ve checked fuse ,eh If like the early Fairlane the fuse holder is part of the headlight switch , what a pain! Other than a fuse, check the ground first off, if good then check for continuity When my single speed went on the fritz, it was a dirty ground, matter of fact almost all of my electrical woes were grounding related

Pull the cover off the wiper motor gearbox and find the contact points in there. A lot of times those points will be cruddy and it will start working with cleanup.

Any luck with the wiper motor? Okay, more specifically, any GOOD luck with the wiper motor.

It is not aground. Seller told me they quit working last winter, I have never had them working. I do have spare motor & switch. Bummer is I have NOT been able to remove light switch, but have a spare, & the spare does NOT show wiper fuse as being one of the few fuses in the light switch??? We tried HARD to get the knob to pull out so the switch would drop down. I noticed that an already removed switch is also very difficult to pull knob/rod out. Is there a trick other than pushing the spring loaded button on light switch?
Are there any good aftermarket motors/switches - variable speed, intermittent etc?
I will pull cover off of my spare for practice & see if same can be done without removing motor from under dash.

If its like the early Fairlanes switch/fuse box your right, there are: parking, dome, rear & instrument panel fuses Radio, turn indictor, back up & heater fuses, no wiper fuse. anyway, to pull the light switch, remove control knob & shaft by pressing the little release button, on the switch housing(opposite side of actual fuses) & with the knob in the full ON position pull outa the switch. Unscrew mounting nut, remove the switch, retaining clips (spring steel) & pull the fuse panel/box down reverse to install, push shaft back into it till it clicks, you may have to rotate shaft a bit till it clicks in, doesn't help you fixing the wipers, but as above, its probably the dirty little contacts . I didn't know you can adjust the wipers rest position, if its outa wack, by simply moving the switch contact plate till wipers rest at windshield edge, huh! Manual is full of little ditties like this ps- is the Meteor wiper motor on the firewall engine bay side, like 62 Fairlane or inside the pass.compartment?

This is a 63 Meteor... right? If so the contact points I was referring to are inside the tin cover on the wiper motor/gearbox assembly in the engine compartment. There is a set of contact points in there that reverses the polarity to make the wipers park. If they are gummed up or otherwise fubar, the wipers won't work.

My spare motor & switch are from a 62 & a 63 Meteor. The car not wroking is a 63 Ranchero I still have one in a 63 Fairlane parts car.I will have to look, I was thinking they were under the dash, but may be falcon is & not meteor. They did look to be same motor either location. thanxxx...jc
Oh, we have tried everything to get the light switch to drop out to see fuses & can't. I have removed a few & have one in hand. Even the one in hand is difficult to pull the knob/shaft out. The one in the car - well, we gave up after a dozen tries, the spring compresses but no release - any suggestions - - - AND - - - the one in hand does not have the fuse for the wipers in it any way, radio, dome light & a couple others but no wiper is it a fuse, breaker, where?? thanxxx

Sho nuff, the fairlane/meteors are under hood, Falcon buried under dash. I will be pulling a Ranchero apart in a few days & will take care to test before removal & look for clues to diagnose, thanxxx

They stacked a whole bunch of stuff into very few fuses and they aren't all labeled. So you just have to test each fuse. With luck, you can introduce newer style blade fuses by making up short wires with spade connectors on each end to connect them to the existing fuse tangs.
