hey guys...
getting near the end of a 302 rebuild(with v-belts) for my 62 S-33. like a dummy, i tossed my old cooling fan so i cant measure diameter....and book does not say it either.
i want to order a new standard rotation Flex fan and dont know what size to get...i have the orinal radiator that i had recored to a 3 row if that matters. should i get a 16 or 17 inch?
thanks as always.

My original(I think) V8 fan is 18" tip to tip. For best airflow the fan should be as close as possible to the shroud without touching it when revved. Don't forget the flex from the motor mounts when the engine is revved. Maybe a torque strap/chain/rod to keep the flex to a minimum, so the fan doesn't contact the shroud. Mine did not have a shroud when I got it and not sure it came with one. I installed a '97 Taurus/Lincoln electric fan on mine and love it. I get more flow on low than some "performance" fans on high. No more blender trying to chop me up while I play under the hood.

thanks CA! so you got rid of the rotating fan altogether? i was considering that option too in that i like the cleaner look and yeah..i get nervous around that sucker spinning while i am putzing around since i am sloppy! also....my car did not come with a shroud...never used one but want one...do i need to order one specifially for my car, or fan size or both? how do i know it will fit my stock radiator is my question? thanks again!
