So I got my 63 Meteor of of a field about a week ago and replaced starting Solenoid, coil, wires, and plugs. Drained and replaced the 30+ year old gas. And tried starting it. And the only way I can get it to crank and fire is shorting out the starting solenoid, when turning the key it does nothing. There is no change from ACC OFF RUN or START. No clicking or anything. Does anyone know any places to start looking ? On the schematics I found online it’s the Red/Blue wire that runs from the solenoid back to ignition, and only goes through the neutral safety switch. Does the car need to be in neutral or park? Does this unit fail often? Please help new to forum. Thanks - Alec

has to be in park or neutral. you can disconnect the wire going to the trans and jumper it out to see if the switch is bad
