It has taken a while to decide, but the decision has been made to sell the Meteor and keep the Fairlane. The Fairlane has the original motor in it and the chrome is goor as well as the body.
The Meteor is hardtop with a '65 289 and C4 in it. The engine huffs on start up and does smoke a little while running. The oil pan is dented. It looks like someone thought they could jack up the car using the pan. Because of this, the dipstick reads over full even though I know it has five quarts of oil in it. I put in a new dipstick because the one that was in there was not the right one. This is a 6 bolt 289, not a 5 bolt like I previously though. There is a new tail pipe that was not put on properly so it does rattle.
The floor pans and torque boxes are rust free! It has good glass, a new brown headliner with matching sunvisors.
The interior needs total replacement (don't they all). The driver's seat frame back is broken. There is no radio. The package shelf is history with speaker holes in it (no speakers).
The body has rust through in the drivers rear quarter, bottom of the door and the bottom of the passenger fender. The driver's door also has a tear in it at the front just above the hole. The front of the passenger fender has a dent in it. All of these defects are visible in the pictures that Stu will post.
The grill is in excellent shape even though it has been painted silver, and the headlight bezels are nice with a few small dents in the bottom.
Two pieces of the stainless side trim have been screwed on, one on the passenger fender and one on the driver's door. The back end of the trim on the rear fender is loose with a dent and sticking out. The rocker panel molding on the passenger's side is missing.
Bumpers are shot. Tires are good. The car runs and was driven to my house from about twelve miles away. I have tuned it up, changed the oil and filter, cleaned and adjusted the carburetor. The trunk key is missing so I removed the latch so there is access to the trunk which is also solid.
Asking $1000.00 OBO. The car is in New Jersey about twenty minutes from Philadelphia.
Thanks all!
