you also asked the question over at rodandpiston.com= fuggug Trailer Queen 26 Posts Posted - 07/07/2007 : 07:08:54 AM Show Profile Visit fuggug's Homepage Send fuggug a Private Message Hi All: New to this forum. New to restoring a car as ours is in near mint condition, but a dirty engine. My question is once the engine is cleaned, (six cylinder) what color would I paint the block, and valve cover gasket, air filter etc. What paint would you recommend? The car is a 1962 Mercury Meteor, 4dr sedan. Thanks for any advice and info. Fuggug AND here's the link= www.rodandpiston.com/db/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=3999

The block is black and the tin is Ford Red, which is more like orange. Same as the 8's.
I don't understand the relevance of all the previous hyperbole.

This is my engine compartment. Block and snorkel are Duplicolor Gloss Black, red is Duplicolor 1605 Ford Red, but the most important part is the satin black...my friends at TorinoCobra.com swear by Rustoleum 7777, and I must say, it's easy to apply and the finish is perfect. Gerard

CA that don't bother me at all. They say what gets on the net stays on the net. Wont be doin too much of nuthin as I took a nasty fall down my stairs yesterday and tore the tendons and ligaments in my ankle. What crappy luck I am having, between my eye injury and now this. But one thing is for sure, I will have time to cruise the net for a while.
Husband will take pic of our engine and post it. Thanks guys and Gerard do you know if the 8 cyl colors are the same as the 6 cyl?

Hey Rob: Thanks so much for the info. As for the eye, well it will be a chronic thing and will eventually need laser surgery to peel off one or two layers of the cornea. d**n those paper cuts. Then falling down the stairs yesterday and tearing all the ligaments and tendons in my ankle. What crap. But thanks for asking. Glad to hear all is well with you. Husband disappointed about not being able to meet up with you and your car for the August show. But ya know, maybe that is a good thing for right now, as he is getting the ambition and the moolah to be able to tackle the engine. ::)YA KNOW IF IT AINT ONE THING ITS ANOTHER. As for getting the ambition, husband takes forever to get at things and that is why I am asking for the paint codes again. This time tho I printed it and wont have to ask again. Went to the cruise locally and Danny (the dummy) got presented with a cute embroidered T shirt DUKE OF EARL CRUISE NIGHT. Fug

You sure you can't make it to Little York in September? It's an absolutely beautiful park, trees abound, pik a nik tables down by the creek, a nice view of the lake, best of all, cars not pre registered get to park in a loop, under the trees. A nice flea market too, all in the shade. Could be great pt for your ankle.

September 14th. I would just email the dude on the site. I doubt I'll pre register this year. On second thought, if I do, we can park next to each other, if you go. But I really like parkin' in the shade, see, the judging field is the only part that isn't in the shade. Man what to do...
