Just got back from the drag strip with my 62 Meteor and noticed I have a broken right front turn signal lens. Does anyone know who sells new ones or would have a good used one? Thanks for the help, hope to hear from somebody.

Don't suppose the 63 Comet lens is the same. It wraps around the corner and has been reproduced. Nahhh, that would be too easy.

I brought up an amber one on a Dearborn Classics page. Don't know if they make a clear one.

I have 2 complete parts Meteors, a 62 & a 63 4 door as well as a 63 Fairlane. Yes everykbody, I have parts for sale in Central California - & I have 2 63 Meteor S33 daily drivers.
Anyway, I just looked at all & they all have amber - was clear original??? I have a box I need to locate of removed parts. Anyway, if you can't find what you are looking for let me know.
P.s. I prefer direct emails to doberdawg@comcast.net & the year & model of your car(s) & your approximate location if inquiring about parts.

everybody is entitled to their opinion. Having 4 meteors, one with under 40K garaged miles I seriously doubt the opinion that clear was original. All of mine, & all I have seen are amber. Obviously (or it appears to be the case) clear are or were also available. It could be some plants used them, it could be that comets &I cars outside my expertise had them & they might be interchangeable
But a statement that clear were original, I believe, is not accurate. I would like to see facts to bolster such an opinion. BTW 3 of my 4 are from different plants. 2 from Calif. plant.

Sorry Dowber I happened to build them in Oakville and here are tthe part numbers for the clear lens C2GY-13208-A for 62 -63 Meteor and Comet. Part number for amber is C3GY-13208-A for 62-63 Comet and Meteor. It is a fact and not an opinion that clear lenses were used in 1962

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 required amber (rather than the earlier white) lens front turn signals. That standard also said that the rear turn signals could be red or amber. Prior to 62 some states were rumbling about amber bulbs behind the standard clear lenses being a standard since so many people were coloring their bulbs most any color. My original 64 Fairlane lenses were clear with amber bulbs and the replacements are amber with clear bulbs.

Again it is stated, I believe incorrectly, that clear lenses were original. However the author now, correctly, states that they were "used". All of my research, including the meteor in my family from Day 1 - AND - Federal Motor Vehicle Standard108 required amber - - seems to conflict with your unsupported - & I believe incorrect - opinion that clear were original. Used, perhaps, original apparently not. You ignored my request for facts. Here it is repeated in case you missed it. I do so, not to challenge you but because I enjoy FACTS, not opinions regarding my 4 (a 62 & 3 63's), Meteors Quoting my ignored request for facts: Also, I have a yardfull of 63 cars, Falcons, GMC, fairlanes, Meteors. ALL comply with the Vehicle standards & have amber t-signal lenses, though a parts car has clear - no ford parts number on it though.
I think one can use either & not be in trouble. Probably cannot win in a show of original cars......

Clear lenses in my possesion have the oval Ford logo on them plus the 62 CT SAE PD on them. To met the Federal Standards of amber turn signals they ended up using the amber lenses and only had to stock one bulb for both the turn signal and brake light , it saved space and money to only have one bulb instead of two.

The fed standard 108 mandated the amber fronts after 1968. Prior to that it was more of a recommendation and the individual states either had a recommendation or a spec or none at all. www.secondchancegarage.com/public/history-of-turn-signal.cfm Check out google images on the different cars since even the manufacturers got into the act. 62 IMpalas had clear, by 63 they were mostly amber and in 64 they were amber. 62 comets and meteors almost always clear lens but in 63 it is flipped to almost all amber.

Looking at my two 1962 Mercury Meteors and two 1962 Ford Fairlanes, they ALL have clear lenses.
Thanks! Tom - GlassPacks
