Back when I was in much bettery physical shape, I used to set-up for track days at Pacific Raceways for our regional bicycle racers. Yes, dear reader, I was a struggling Category three rider in those days. Anyway, I would take my Alfa out and clear the rocks and sticks off the track and get in a few hot laps before and after the training races. It were really fun and very educational.

I know this is an older post, but it is right up the alley of what I have planned. I've been researching and think I may have a solution by putting in a '90s Mustang strut type front end conversion designed for an early Mustang, will involve modifying the shock towers, but will end up with no upper control arm, rear-steer rack, and lots of room in the engine compartment. I'm planning on a 390 in a 63 wagon.

Beautiful, keep us posted. I too have a 63 wagon, and I just scrapped a 93 GT. I opted to keep my wagon mostly stock due to it being fairly rare. I would like to see your progress though.

I'm looking at this picture of how the CMJ lower control arm mounts (particularly at the front position), and this '64 Fairlane frame seems to be different from our '62-'63 Meteors in that area. I think our wondrous "anti-harsh" device mount with two bolts from the bottom and two on the side. What do y'all think? How much fabrication would be necessary to make this work on a Meteor?

I'm thinkin very little fab since you are pulling most of the original suspension off anyway. Just have to poke a few new holes in the front anchor area where the heim joints are.

I just got off the phone with John from CMJ Performance, and this seems pretty feasible. He said that I can send him in my current front bracket, and they will fabricate their bracket to mount on the front subframe the same way our current Meteor bracket does. So, that is one less thing to worry about. He also has someone who will custom build anti-sway bars (stabilizer bars as Ford calls them), so that was my other concern.
I will keep everyone updated on how this goes for us.

Talking to Paul ,who owns that red Fairlane pictured above. He says he loves the suspension, other than he wishes he;d gone with a more forgiving rubber bushing, little to much road feel. Other than that, he loves the CMJ kit. I think, if i went this far, i would defianteley go with a R & P to though.

You do have to stick with front sump ,with the RRS set up, i think. I;ve had this Shelby finned aluminum oil pan for 25 yrs & would hate to have to ditch it Makes the RRS set up even more appealing! Now, if they;d only have a sale!

No doubt CMJ will pick up on the RRS GM J-car rack and fab their version. It sells under a thousand bucks for that rack made here in the US of A if you look around. The RRS brochure gives you everything short of a blueprint if you DIY. One of the guys on FCA is fabbing his own strut front for cheap from a 2000 Mustang spindle, QA1 struts and fabbed caster camber plates. Next to no modifications to do it and still rear steer.

To answer your question there will be a Meteor option available here soon I just need a volenteer to send me a front mount.
