You can buy a metal metal reproduction through Mac's Antique Auto Parts - but it will set you back $150 + shipping. If you want to use the stock 4 speed trans tunnel hump, you will need a toploader that will align the shifter in the shifter hump hole. I will be using a 1964 Ford HEH-E toploader, originally used in Fairlane hipo cars and Sunbeam Tigers. What year engine are you using, that may dictate what type of toploader you can use.
Thanks! Tom - GlassPacks

Hello, hey thanks for all the replies, sorry it took so long to get back on here. anyways, what I am doing is I have a 63 wagon, came with a 3 on the tree and I found a top loader out of a 64 fairlane and I have a factory buckets and counsel out of a 63 meteor s33. talking to local guys, they say that this top loader from a 64 fairlane will bolt right up to the 260 motor? what do you guys think??? also as far as the trans hump goes, with the factory council, what do I need??? will the fiberglass one work?? do I need one at all??? anyways, again all thoughts and help would be great....... Thanks...

The toploader you found should work but be sure that the front bearing retainer is a match to the hole in the bell housing. Too tight and you break the ears off the tranny, too loose and you break something else. You can look for another bearing retainer but you can also have yours turned down to match the bell if needed.

you have to make sure you have clearance for the shifter rods, very close fit! meteorman

pretty much cutting down to the floor on the left side of the hump almost all the way to the gas pedal. Like MM said, need clearance for the linkage. If you have the later console, that will be a good thing to trace on the left side for the hole. If you mock it up on the transmission, you can get a pretty good idea where and how much to cut.

Hey Meteorman,
What did you do for a driveshaft, since the 4-speed toploader is longer than the factory three-speed?
Thanks! Tom - GlassPacks

hello, hey thanks for all the info and help.... I am just now getting around to putting the car back together so I am sure I will find lots of issues along the way... Tom, I had not even thought about the driveshaft yet but good to know, I will have to figure that one out...

Hello: GlassPacks Went from a two speed auto to the toploader, all I did was change the yoak to 28 spline, drive shaft fits, I will change it soon, because it's has a rubber insert! mercury you know,Used the fiberglass hump to make a metal one, made a z bar, and yes that speedo on that pic does say 33398 miles, Meteorman
