I will be in contact after your return. Depending on the level or absence of molestation over the years, take a lot of hi def pictures in on and around the car. Pay special attention to hoses and routing, brackets and other little details that don't show up without light and magnification.

Alright guys the car is in Washington after 1900 miles in 48 hrs!!! Got back to the Shop today and the gas in the car smelled and look pretty good so we drained it and then put a few more of fresh gas in, we put in a new battery, and the one pump of the gas pedal and she started right up!!! Going to put brakes on it this week the passenger front wheel cylinder is bad so we are going to replace all four since we are there an replace some hoses and doing the brake shoes as well. Have found the gas records that started in 1979 and the last fill up was 2006. In the past 18 years about 1200 miles were put on the car as it was at the cabin not in the city. If I had to have any disappointments in the car it's the exterior paint..... I think it's the factory color but has been repainted at some time in it's life.... I'm sure once I get it washed up and were driving down the road this upcoming weekend I won't be thinking of the exterior paint ;D Will need a new muffler and tailpipe but not right this moment. Oh and I forgot the engine is the 260 not the 221.

Very nice!!! As long as you are doing the brakes, have you considered the dual master cylinder (for safety)? What does the mileage show on the odometer?

Very nice!!! As long as you are doing the brakes, have you considered the dual master cylinder (for safety)? What does the mileage show on the odometer? most important thing you can should do! i go to shows and see some very very nice cars and they are trusting the old single masters and i am stunned when i see this. there are at least 3 cars(66 Grand Prix,61 Olds,59 Husky) that i've owned that probly still have sphincter grabbin marks on the seats after a brake line popped or a seal let go when i was drivin one of them. doesn't someone make a master that looks like the old style with newer working innards? seems would be easy enough to make a dual that looks like the old round topped singles.

Don't know of one of them ca but the switch is pretty easy to a dual pot. Even the single pot is semi-okay if you do the due diligence. Not for me though, I'll stick with two.

Single - only takes one hose to rupture, then REAL TROUBLE!!!!!

the hoses are just part of it. my Hillman had a rear seal in the rear brakes crack and i had 2 or 3 pumps till the master was suckin air. i wasn't goin very fast and it was a manual shift so no problem. the Grand Prix was a different = doin about 65 and jabbed the brakes so i could start a left hand turn onto a quarter mile street that "T"d at the end when a 2 year old factory rubber brake line popped. i didn't kill the car or me but it was very very close, probly only because it was late and almost no traffic. first thing i did to the Meteor was the dual master BEFORE i let my daughter drive it.

No technical advice. If you had shipped it to my house you would save a lot of work. All kidding aside a d@#n nice Meteor

So far the following has been done to the car:
New Battery Front Brakes Front wheel cylinders Changed all fluids and other goodies that go along with them Sent Radiator out to have fixed not fixable therefore new Radiator Washed and all shiny should be ready for me on Saturday.
As far as insurance goes what does everyone have?
First quote for insurance that I got was 100 for the year and yes that's Collectible Car Insurance not regular car insurance. That seems pretty darn good so I haven't looked elsewhere.
That's it for now.

Read with interest about the master cylinder. Where can we get a dual pot mc as we are now worried and would like to replace our original mc. The brake lines and hoses have all been done. Do we need to hunt and peck for one or are they readily available.
Thanks
