67 Mustang - dual reservoirs will be the same size if for drum/drum, one reservoir larger if for disc/drum. Available at most parts stores.

NAPA Part Number: TS 101485
For Manual 4 wheel drum brakes. Now, if you folks go and buy this here's what'll happen. It's $32.49, and there is a $17 core charge. Your original m/c is not the same and therefore, they will not take it as a core. So you will wind up paying about 50 clams for your remanufactured m/c.
Or, there's this one. It's a "NEW" m/c no core charge
NAPA Part Number: UP 36222 $64.99

Now just to be sure, this will work on the 170 cid auto transmission?

The only thing that makes a difference for you is if your car has manual or power brakes. They all came with four wheel drums.

You've said that before, but i don't remember why. Too much braking power?
No power brakes, no power steering... less $h!t to fix.

yep, that's part of the reason I stuck with all manual except for transmission. I am the mechanic, and the mechanic is way lazy.

Rob, easier to brake with a smaller master piston/bore at the expense of a touch longer stroke= think bottle jack.

To convert to a dual master with drum/drum is super easy. There is one line that goes from the old master down to a brass block with 3 other ports on it. One port goes to each front wheel separately and the other heads to the back to do both rear wheels. You can replace that little brass block with one that has a total of 3 ports instead of 4 but the easiest way is to get a 3/16 inverted flare block off plug. Undo the fitting on the line that goes to the rear brakes and put the plug in the block where it came from. Now, with the new master in place, the line that used to connect to your old master will go into the front port. This will hook up your front brakes. Get a new line, an 8 or 12 inch premade will do and a 3/16 inverted flare union. Screw the union onto the end of the line that you disconnected at the block (to rear brakes) and put the new line into the other side of the union. Bend everything for nice clearance and screw the other end of the new line into your master cyl’s rear port. After bleeding, you will now have a dual bore master installed and be twice as safe. Be sure to bench bleed your new master before installing. If you are not familiar with bleeding brakes you always do the farthest away first. You will bleed, pass rear, driver’s rear, pass front & lastly driver’s front. Check the master periodically to make sure it doesn’t run low on fluid and suck air. This will NOT work without a proportioning valve on a disc/drum system if you are doing the full conversion. If the master you get happens to have different size ports than the line you are using, don’t panic, there are several different cores being used for those cylinders. Go back to the parts store and get a master cylinder line adapter that is the size you need. They are very common and a good store will have them in stock.

Alright this was one hell of a Fathers Day for me!! Picked up the Merc from my buddies shop on Saturday drove it 30 miles to my mothers house stayed there and then headed home this morning which is about 75 miles south. We found out Saturday that we have no brake lights and yes the bulbs are good. We are thinking it may be the brake light switch so I will do some investgating this week. With my wife following behind me in my truck we jumped on the freeway and she had no problem in getting up to highway speed. The car felt really good everything works inside such as heat/defrost/radio/ and all other controls. So besides no brake lights all went well! Here are some more pictures..... Could be his car one day..... Ok you folks done seeing pictures of my new toy...... Todd
