Both our '58 and my '63 are up on stands in the garage right now. Tonight I will measure the spring perch distance as well as the overall length and answer this question with hard facts. Lots of sites say different things. I have the correct cars to check this in our garage. I think hubby was going to do this once before but never had them both up at the same time. Will answer by tomorrow.

rear of the Fairlanes are the same as Meatiers cept fo the front shackle/mount/cushy ride thing

just crawled under my car AGAIN because of you = 52 1/2 inches flange to flange on the face(side facing out towards the wheel) of the flange.

spring pads are right at 36 and a quarter apart and about 2 n 3/4 wide.
this is the kind of info we need a page for= quick reference

when Stu had his done he said his was made to Quote"Flange to flange is 49", drum face to drum face is 54"

well how'd he get that number 49" and you got 52 -1/2"
We will wait and see what MeteorGirl comes up with.
I may have to drive over to where my car sits and take a measurement my self.
look at that pic i posted they have a blown up view of the flange end.
