Trying to get ahold of a rear sway bar for my meteor. has anyone used one or do we just talk about it? Talked to a guy today who makes em and says that the my measurment of frame rail to fraim rail (39-40in) is longer than that of fairlane (38in). Theoreticaly should a rear bar for a fairlane fit our mercs? The measurements he needs are found on quickorgarage.com/techhelp/rbarleaf.pdfcan anyone verify that the meteors dimensions match the fairlanes?? Thanks Daniel

I got the front and rear kit from that same fellow. I ordered the 1" front and matching rear. He shipped really quickly and they came with complete instructions and hardware. What I have NOT done yet is put them on. Hubby and I plan to do that in the next few weeks, before I put it away for the winter. I'll be sure to report about the fit etc when we do it.

It should really improve the body roll when cornering. I rode in a Farilane that had the 1" on the front and when you corner hard the car stays almost flat. Aparently when you put both on you have to be careful not to outcorner your tires.

Cool.....yeah I always wished that my meteor would handle better. But my back tires are cheater slicks so that won't happen. The rear end sways back and forth cause of the wrinkle wall back tires. But when I hop in my foxbody mustang watch out I can take any curvy road

Too much bar in front and the rear hangs out. Too much bar in the rear and the front plows straight off the corner. For these cars, the rear bar should be smaller then the front.
Oversteer = screaming passengers Understeer = screaming driver
For the drags, a rear bar is good but the front should at least be unhooked from the lower arms. You'll get a better 60' time.

I believe the bar he supplies for the rear is a 3/4" to go with the 1" front.

If they are made to fit right you WILL be able to get both installed in a MAXIMUM of 1 afternoon!!! Well all this talk about the sway bars so guess what we did tonight? We went out after supper and replaced the front bar with that 1"unit. It took less than an hour and that included talking and sipping coffee while we worked. OMG!!!!! This has to be one of the most noticible upgrades you can do. Like Dan says, for the time and money spent you would be hard pressed to beat it. We haven't got the back one on yet but after taking it out and presing it hard into a tight curve at 60 MPH I can't wait. I never thought my little Meteor could do that. I'm sure the Monroe coilovers on the back help too and like I said I can't wait. We MAY run into some difficulties as my huge dual exhaust system may get in the way but we'll know better when we get it up in the air and test fit it.

I knew you'd love it! haha. Ya i just wanna know if the dimensions are right for the rear. My measurments for the merc frame were off by like 2in of the bar he sells but i measured if quite crudely with my dad so i may be at error. As soon as your rears are in please the the thumbs up this way so I can order mine. To recap....you have a 62 and you bought the 62-65 bar from the same fellow?
Thanks & enjoy your new car -Dan

My Fairlane and a lot of the other six cylinder cars came without an anti-sway bar. I added a stock one to stop cornering like an old French car or a displacement hull boat. On a hard starboard turn it felt like I might scrape my elbow on the pavement. The upgrade later to a 1" bar was most welcome.

My dad used to say it handles like a bowl of water.

Recap info; My car is a 63 but they should be exactly the same dimensions as a 62. I bought the bars from Suspenstech on ebay from a guy named Dave who apparently USED to be Quickor but had problems. I talked to him on the phone and he was very helpful and as I said shipped the units right away. We may back the car into the shop tonight and do a quick look and trial fit. if there is a small frame difference, we will just get a couple of longer "L" brackets made for the frame to replace the ones in the kit. It LOOKS pretty easy to install other than drilling a couple of 7/16 bolt holes.
